After finishing 3rd in their Champions League group, Schalke dropped into the UEFA Cup. Playing in this away kit, the team reached the semi-finals, where after an extremely tight two-legged tie (0-0 and a painful 0-1 after extra time) they were knocked out by the eventual winners - Sevilla.
This shirt was worn on opponents' pitches by players such as newly signed prolific striker Kevin Kurányi, Brazilian playmaker Lincoln, the dynamic Gerald Asamoah, Turkey international Hamit Altıntop and Georgian defender Levan Kobiashvili.
