Although it was the away kit, Real Madrid wore these purple shirts in the Champions League final in Cardiff on 3 June 2017. "Los Blancos" wore it as the formal away team and crushed Juventus 4-1. The long sleeves in that match became a symbol of elegance in the championship photos.
The long-sleeve version has cult status, because Cristiano Ronaldo almost always preferred to play in long sleeves. It was in this purple long-sleeve shirt that the Portuguese star scored, among others, twice in the final against Juventus and a hat-trick in the league game against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
